Linking your products to your Sonos Account

Linking your Sonos products to your Sonos Account allows you to control Sonos directly from the Spotify app (requires Spotify Premium), with other functionality to come in the future. It is an important step in ensuring your products are securely registered and associated with your Sonos Account.

Why should I link my products?
Linking your products allows you to control Sonos directly from the Spotify app, with more functionality to come in the future. It will also associate all of your Sonos products with your Sonos Account for added security as the products are linked to your individual account.

What information do I need to link my products?
You’ll only need an email address that you have access to as you will be asked to verify your email. Avoid using non-personal emails when linking your account.

How do I link my products?
If you are a Spotify user, you will be prompted to set up your account so that you can control Sonos from the Spotify app. If you choose not to go through the setup at the time, you can always start the process again in the Sonos app.

Using the Sonos app for iOS or Android: Tap Settings > Control Sonos from Spotify and follow the on-screen prompts.
Using the Sonos app on Mac: Select Sonos > Preferences > Advanced > Music Sources > Control Sonos from Spotify and follow the on-screen prompts.
Using the Sonos app on PC: Select Manage > Settings > Advanced > Music Sources > Control Sonos from Spotify and follow the on-screen prompts.

If you have already gone through the process of linking your products to your Sonos Account, or your system is not yet registered, this option will not be listed.

To register your Sonos system:

Using the Sonos app for iOS or Android: From the Settings menu, select Advanced Settings > System Registration.
Using the Sonos app on a Mac or PC: Select Sonos System Registration from the Help menu.

What information do you gather when I link my products?
Check out our privacy policy for a full list of information we gather, and how that information is used.

I don’t recognize the email that is displayed. Can I change the email?
Yes. If someone else installed your Sonos system, it may be registered to their email address. You can change the email by tapping on “I don’t have access to this email.” This will allow you to enter in a new email address that you have access to. Your Sonos products will be registered to the new email that you’ve entered.

Can I change the email address for my account?
You can change the email address for your account at any time at sonos.com/myaccount/profile/.

I forgot my password and no longer have access to my account's email, can I change the Sonos account my players are linked to?
Yes. You can transfer the account your Sonos system is registered and linked to.

Using the Sonos app for iOS or Android: Settings > Advanced Settings > System Registration > Change Sonos Account.
Using the Sonos app on Mac or PC: Select Help > Sonos System Registration > Change Sonos Account

I forgot my password, can I reset it?
Yes. Tap on “I forgot my password” within the Sonos app, or reset your password on the following link:

Reset your password

Please note the following password requirements when creating a new password:

  • At least 8 characters
  • Includes a number
  • Uppercase letter
  • Lowercase letter

Why do I have to create a new password?
A new password must be created if you have never manually created a password associated with your Sonos Account, or if the existing password does not meet the current password requirements.

Why do I need to verify my email address?
Verifying your email address will allow you to access your account and reset your password in case you get locked out or forget your password.

Why do I have to sign in to add new speakers?
When adding new products to your household, you will be asked to sign in with your email and password. This will associate the speakers you are adding to your Sonos Account automatically.

I did not receive my account verification email or password reset email
If you did not receive your password reset or account verification email, please check the following article for some quick things to check for: I’m not receiving emails from Sonos
